John Oliver Brooks at Friend

“My work in digital photography explores the nature of perception. Beginning with a high-resolution digital photograph, I decompose it into what I see as constituent elements, alter each element, and then recombine them to create a memorial representation of the image,” says Brooks, “I print my images in limited editions of three on fine art paper, or uniquely on canvas. I do not view my work as photography per se, my works are more closely aligned to paintings; paintings in which I paint with color, the photograph, and my memory.”

The show will run from August 27th through October 30th
